Cooking & Nutrition

Our Cooking & Nutrition Outreach programs are grounded in evidence-based, practical, and community responsive food education and literacy. All are designed to build food skills, strengthen connections, and improve access to good food.

Chefs In Training

Gaining confidence in the kitchen and knowing where our food comes from is important for children. Chefs in Training is a 6-week after school program for students aged 10-15 where students learn safe food handling, kitchen safety, food preparation skills, and recipe reading. After the program, students will understand the division of responsibility in feeding and develop curiosity, enjoyment, and understanding of food.

Cooking Outreach

Our Cooking Outreach team provides engaging, hands-on food literacy education workshops for children & youth, families, and communities throughout Saskatoon. We focus our work across four core programs: Good Food Youth Leaders, Kitchen Table Connections, Collective Kitchens, and Infant Feeding Support.

Nutrition Education

CHEP’s Community Dietitian provides nutrition education to student and adult groups throughout Saskatoon. Nutrition Education is based on request and frequent talks have included: food security, saving money on groceries, introducing babies to solids, nutrition for young children, packing healthy lunches and Canada’s Food Guide.

Presentations are provided either in-person or online. Contact the Community Dietitian to request a group presentation for your school or organization.
