Nutritional Packages for Seniors
For many seniors living in Saskatoon, accessing fresh food each week can be difficult. Some have mobility issues that make getting around a challenge. Many face transportation issues and if they do not have a grocery store within walking distance, they must rely on family or friends, taxis or public transit.
CHEP Good Food assists seniors by bringing a package of basic grocery items to a centralized location for them to pick up. These packages are bi-weekly, cost $20, and contain the following:
- 1 Litre of 2% Milk
- 1 Loaf of Whole Wheat Bread
- 1 Dozen Eggs
- Assorted fruits and vegetables (these can vary from week to week).
- For example in week 1 there were: pears, bananas, oranges, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumber
