Collective Kitchens

What has happened since 1995?

  • 53 people took part in the 4 leadership training workshops.
  • 32 of these people went on to lead different cooking groups.
  • About 495 people from the Saskatoon community have joined cooking groups.
  • 827 children have benefited from the program.
  • Several group leaders participate as leaders in other community actions such as the Community Gardens, children's nutrition programs, Tenants Groups and Prenatal Nutrition.
  • A network of Collective Kitchen leaders meet to discuss topics such as kitchen math, bulk buying, canning and freezing produce, cooking legumes and cooking in large quantities. They also enjoy sharing recipes and problem solving.
